Jet boil vs. msr windburner - huntingbc.ca

Apr 22, 2015 Just wondering what experiences anybody has with these two products for sheep hunting. Being a newbie to this I have no idea but the guy at Valhalla pure was telling me with the jet boil you don't need/can't use a windscreen because it will heat the fuel canister. He recommended the windburner for alpine hunting because it doesn't use an open flame.

MSR Windburner Review - GearLab - OutdoorGearLab

Apr 29, 2020 Unfortunately, the WindBurner does not excel in this category. It has the heaviest trail weight in our review at 15 ounces, even heavier than the liquid fuel stoves. We are disappointed that MSR could not make this product lighter than the Reactor. It seems like there is a lot of unnecessary metal, as well as plastic parts that could be trimmed.

Windburner vs reactor for alpine climbing -

Feb 16, 2021 The numbers I got from an MSR rep show that the Reactor boils more water for a given amount of fuel in addition to boiling water faster. A fuel canister won't burn as long in the Reactor as in the Windburner, but I'm assuming that you're more interested in the amount of water you can boil. PM me and I'll send you the pdf I got from the MSR rep ...

How Crystallization Reactor Vs Windburner -

Jan 23, 2018 Also, the Windburner is a better stove because it has better simmer adjustments than the Reactor, which was really just a blast furnace of a stove. Really? They told me the other day that they’re waiting on a single part that’s been hard to get and that, as soon as they get it, the Reactor should be back and available on the MSR website.

MSR Windburner or Reactor? Rokslide Forum

Jan 23, 2018 The Reactor is slightly faster at boiling water, you can simmer and it is slightly lighter. It is the best option out of the two for backpack hunting IMO, but it is more expensive. The Windburner is a great stove though and I use it all the time for backpack hunts, particularly if boiling water is all I need to do.

Review: MSR WindBurner Stove System Paddy Pallin

Jan 28, 2018 The WindBurner uses the same Reactor technology however its in a more user friendly package for lightweight hiking and solo use. When the WindBurner is running, gas travels from the canister, through a pressure regulator, to two jets that inject the fuel into a cavity under the porous disc. Here, the fuel mixes with air and flows through the ...

Windburner vs. Jetboil? - Mountain Project

Mar 05, 2020 The Reactor is slightly more powerful than the Windburner, but doesn't simmer as well. Great for melting snow, a little pointless for cooking dinner for one person. The Reactor has a bigger pot than the Windburner (1.7 liter vs 1 liter), which again is great for melting snow but a little silly for one person cooking dinner.

UKC Forums - MSR Windburner or Reactor - UK Climbing

Mar 10, 2016 Just wondering how much difference there is between the MSR reactor and MSR windburner now they both have options for a 1.8L pot. The windburner is quite a bit cheaper and the pot can be attached to the burner. Hence more inclined towards this at the moment, and more useful afterwards for UK based expeditions.

MSR Windburner- Is it worth it? - Mountain Project

Mar 11, 2019 Absolutley worth it (this from a recently departed REI employee). It's better than any Jetboils. The burner is larger and more BTU's, the wind-blockers around the flame are welded on as opposed to glued on like all Jetboils (many have been known to come apart after a while, even mid-trip I have heard), it's easier to twist the container off the base and has an efficient …

MSR WindBurner Personal Stove System Review

MSR WindBurner Personal Stove System Review

Nov 28, 2021 The WindBurner stove scales down from The MSR Reactor in both heat output and form factor. The Reactor is optimized for melting snow for drinking water and blasts out 9,000 BTU/hr, while the WindBurner throttles that back to 7,000 BTU/hr and sips fuel more slowly. The WindBurner is also a lot more user-friendly for general purpose cooking.

Long Term Review: MSR WindBurner Stove System Combo

Oct 16, 2018 At $260 USD / $300 CAD, the WindBurner Stove System Combo presents really good value when you consider that it includes a wind-proof stove and two pieces of cookware. As an example, a WindPro II goes for $120 CAD, a regular 2.5L pot is $85 and an 8″ skillet costs $55. That’s a total of $260, however the stove is not as efficient (70min vs ...
